Lack of planning is biting me in the rear. This morning, waking at 5:00, after 6 hours sleep, I shake the cobwebs out of my eyes and write for an hour before showering, eating breakfast, and getting the h*ll out of dodge and on my way to my client’s for the day.
Breakfast is peach kefir poured over 2 Tbl ground flaxseeds (thank goodness I’d had the foresight to pre-grind them yesterday), 1 peach, peeled and cubed, and a few almonds. (Pretty yum and very filling).
For lunch, I grab the container of leftover cucumber salad, throw (almost literally) 2 slices of organic pepper jack cheese and a few of the walnut/zucchini crackers I made into my lunch box and run out the door, 15 minutes later than I’d planned.
By the end of the day, my stomach is saying, “feed me.” Did I mention that my son and EVERY one at work has been sick with sore throats and nausea? (One of my co-workers calls it “the back-to-school virus”.) I woke up this morning with a sore mouth, as though I had thrush or a yeast infection on my tongue. I have been uncomfortable all day, and experiencing some dizziness in the late afternoon.
Rich, graciously, takes me out for dinner – Sushi (he knows I favor raw) … Sushi dinners aren’t really all that raw. The edamame is cooked, for example. The wakame, on the other hand, a wonderfully healthful sea food, is raw and seasoned with a wonderful dressing. One of the rolls, called “Who’s your Daddy?” contains cooked eel , cooked rice and cooked crab (I assume). The other, except for the rice, is raw – tuna and salmon. But who am I to complain when my sweetheart is so kind as to take me out for dinner at the only near-raw restaurant in town?
Tomorrow, be prepared, I will eat a raw breakfast and lunch, but dinner is whatever it will be. All bets are off! It’s my sweetheart’s birthday, and I’ve reserved a special table at a special place in town.
